Interazione tra centri abitati ed evoluzione geomorfologica dei versanti: alcuni esempi in Sila Grande (Cosenza, Italia meridionale)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper deals with cases of interaction between inhabited areas and geomorphological slope evolution in Sila (Calabria, Southern Italy). In the study area, deep weathering processes have developed in gneiss and numerous instability phenomena of impulsive character are present. The evolutional outline of slopes is described since Würm II - Würm III Interglacial Stage. Although the natural slope evolution interacts with the growth of towns and villages, human intervention may condition slope evolution and, in particular, landslide activity. Two examples of such relationships are described: i.e., the "San Pietro in Guarano" and "Altavilla" landslides. These two study cases suggest that slopes need be considered as active and dynamic elements of a landscape. Slopes directly control anthropic activities but, sometimes, may be strongly influenced by anthropic action.
