Evoluzione olocenica della linea di riva adriatica dal F. Reno al F. Potenza (Italia Centrale)
Main Article Content
Abstract
On the basis of new field and drilling data the main Flandrian (Versilian) and Roman shorelines between the Reno and Potenza rivers (North-Central Italy) are reconstructed. In the first stretch, corresponding to the subsiding zones of the Po plain, the depositional sequences and the Flandrian trasgression surface are outlined. The Flandrian and Roman shorelines are located 12 to 2 km and 6 to 1 km offshore, respectively. In the second stretch, south of Cattolica and Ancona, where the coastline is cut in hard rocks, the two shorelines are external to the present one. In the "C" zone, where soft sediments are present, the two lines are internal to the present shoreline, and are marked by a continuous scarp. Since the Flandrian transgression, the shorelines have undergone a continuous and rapid linearization, with progradation of coastal plains and erosion of headlands.
