Contributo alla conoscenza dei rock glaciers della Valle d'Aosta settentrionale e occidentale
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper focusses on the distribution and the morphometric parameters of rock glaciers in northern and western Val d'Aosta. A statistical evaluation of morphological features of 156 rock glaciers, identified from aerial photographs and during field surveys, indicates a significant correlation between the altitude of the -1°C annual isotherm and the lowest altitude of the front of active rock glaciers. The rock glaciers of Lac Mort in Valpelline and Lac de Goillet in Valtournanche are described in detail; their convex surface, with a markedly steep front and the absence of vegetation allows them to be classified as active rock glaciers.
