Ricostruzione degli eventi deformativi di versante tardo-quaternari ed olocenici attraverso studi geomorfologici e datazioni radiometriche Th/U: l'esempio dell'area di Vico Equense (Campania)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper is mainly focused to the understanding of the genesis and age of slope deformation events affecting the northern slope of the Sorrento Peninsula near the small town of Vico Equense in Campania (South-central Italy). The most important of these events is the "Spacco della Jala" traction joint, which is 2 m wide, 800 m long and 90 m deep; it is located close to the main road of the area and to the railway. The geomorphological analysis has shown that the origin of this joint is linked to the collapse of a doline located downvalley along the slope. During the speleological survey of the "Spacco della Jala" speleothems broken by the opening of the joints were found. Th/U dating of these speleothems together with historical data collected in the area let us to say that the collapse of the doline and the opening of the "Spacco della Jala" formed during the Middle Age.
