Osservazioni sui criteri di studio e sui risultati del S. P. Neotettonica del P. F. Geodinamica del CNR

Abstract

: In addition to the positive results of the Subproject, the author makes some observations on the uniformity of investigations, the precision of the data analysis and the objectivity of the synthesis of results. More homogeneous results could have been obtained through the use of satellite images or a standard set of aerial photographs and by adopting a standard for the morpho-neotectonic legend and the data sheet for the data collection. The subdivision and classification of the elements could have been more precise and articulated. The author points out some missing information and a lack of homogeneity in the mapping of the tectonic elements, as well as the absence of explanatory notes. In spite of these factors, the compilation of the Neotectonic map of Italy has led to end results of considerable importance not only from a scientific and methodological point of view, but also in consideration of its value as a meeting point and as a coordinated effort between researchers working in different institutes and on different disciplines.
