Inquadramento climatico e cronologico del sito Madonna degli Angeli a Tocco Casauria (Pescara)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The archeological site of Madonna degli Angeli near Pescara (Abruzzo, Italy) has been studied from an environmental point of view in order to frame it into definite climatic conditions and time period. The collected 14C ages have been plotted in histograms that may give a picture of the chronological sequence of climatic periods and cultural events. Only the climatic periods as defined from palynological and/or isotopie analyses and as dated with radiometric age determinations have been taken into account for the plots. This method has shown that the Mesolithic and Eneolithic periods cannot be characterized from the chronological and climatic points of view because represent a transition between two cultural moments of the human history. On the basis of the age of archeological witnesses - i.e. Bronze Age - and the results obtained from the study of histograms the authors conclude that the climatic and environmental conditions of the Madonna degli Angeli archeological site had to be similar to the present ones in the area.
