Indagine dendrocronologica su un tronco di abete rosso in depositi colluviali presso Pecol (Val di Zoldo, Belluno)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The casual recovery of a fragment of Picea abies Karst, in colluvial deposits has made possible, through a dendrochronologicai analysis, to go back to the date of plant death, probably in 1909. The subsequent historical research, carried out in several archives, had the purpose of determining the probable cause of death from natural events. The research has verified the exactness of the date and has established that an exceptional hydrological event occurred in November 1906 damaging the tree. This event predisposed the following uprooting of the tree probably occurred in 1909, in concurrence with an abundant snowfall. This work represents an example of the use of dendrochronologicai analyses to the reconstruction of the recent geological history.
