Paleoidrografia della bassa pianura friulana tra i fiumi Tagliamento e Stella
Main Article Content
Abstract
Traces of abandoned river beds, mainly meanders, are identified in the lower Friuli plain, between the Tagliamento and Stella rivers. A morphological and chronological study analyzing the topographical surface is carried out, followed by the study of aerial photographs; the modern and ancient maps are integrated with a field survey. The development of most morphological elements, their stratigraphical relationships and their evolution are explained. Tentative dating of these elements, based on the distribution of the archaeological sites, gives poor results. It must be assumed without the aid of new evidence, that studied paleomeanders are of Holocenic and, possibly, of pre-Roman age.
