L'ospite caldo Sylvestra Seminis (Bonaduce, Masoli & Pugliese, 1976) (Crustacea, Ostracoda): un possibile marker dell'ultimo interglaciale dell'area mediterranea
Main Article Content
Abstract
The presence of the marine ostracode Sylvestra seminis in ancient infralittoral sediments drilled on the Sarno Plain (Campania, Italy) is reported and discussed. These sediments are ascribed to the Last Interglacial on the basis of a U/Th dating on Cladocora coespitosa and on the basis of stratigraphical considerations. The authors suggest further investigate the stratigraphical distribution of Sylvestra seminis since this warm guest, found for the first time in Quaternary sediments of the central Mediterranean, seems- to be a good marker of typical interglacial climate. Moreover, this species may be considered exclusive of the Substage 5e within sedimentary sequences younger than the Stage 7.
