La diversione del F. Flora (Lazio settentrionale) in relazione agli eventi eustatici del Pleistocene medio-superiore

Abstract
Geological and hydrogeological data show that a paleodrainage is present at the base layer of the Middle Pleistocene transgressive sediments between the valleys of the Fiora and Arrone rivers (Northem Latium, ltaly). Such a paleodrainage runs from the Fiora valley near “Archi di Pontecchio", down to the coast near "Porto delle Murelle", following an itinerary which partly overlaps the one of the Sanguinaro stream.
There is no morphological evidence outlining this paleodrainage. In fact its upper section is obliterated by mainly alluvial sediments that have covered an area larger than it, whereas, towards the sea, it has bean concealed by the Late Pleistocene marine transgressions.
The buried drainage has been attributed to a old course of Fiora river, and its evolution is related to the sedimentary cycles connected with eustatic sea level changes in Late-Middle Pleistocene.
