Abstract
The deposit of Isernia La Pineta, including structures related to human settlements, lithic industries and abundant remains of big mammals was dated back to about 730,000 years ago (early Middle Pleistocene). Remains of birds of marshes and flood land environment, referred to Anas cf. platyrhynchos Linnaeus and Tachybaptus ruficollis (Pallas) were also discovered there and are described in this paper.
