Analisi pollinica di sedimenti olocenici fluvio-lacustri di un paleoalveo del Fiume Brenta a Montà (Padova)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper presents the results of a pollen analysis of fluvio-Iacustrine sediments from a borehole drilled at Montà, a locality near Padua (Northeastern Italy). The pollen diagrams indicate the presence of a consolidated wood vegetation characterized by components of oak-hornbeam mesophilous and alder hygrophilous formations. The sediments date to the early Atlantic on the basis of 14C radiometric age determinations. The sudden disappearance of pollen of all the components of the oak-hornbeam formation during the Atlantic climatic phase is a characteristic aspect of the analysis: ail pollen types - which are the most corrosion-susceptible in the sequence compiled by Havinga (1984) - disappear from the sediments, while no signs of human activities are evident. It is suggested that sedimentation conditions and hydrology of the site changed and that a good preservation of sporomorphs would not be possible.
